Debby Slavitt is in a fiber art show at the Amherst Historical Society and Museum, Amherst, MA running until 9-30-2016.  Last Spring, the Museum invited the nine member Fiber Artists of Western MA to visit and be inspired by the Museum's collection, creating a piece reflecting that interest.  The show aptly named "Artifacts Inspire." Debby's piece reflects her interest in the crazy quilt squares and the linens in the collection and is her version of a crazy quilt made of antique lace and crochet work, brass buttons, bits of antique crazy quilts and hand embroidery, embellished with hand dyed ribbons and ribbon flowers.  Victorian slang words written on organdy "tags" complete the piece.  Reception is 5-5-2016 from 5-7 pm and a member of the group will be at the Amherst Walks First Thursdays open house at the Museum demonstrating and teaching her handwork through the end of September.
