Library

In its headquarters building on Capitol Hill, the Society of Woman Geographers maintains a collection of more than 1200 books by and about its members, covering the great variety of SWG interests, from anthropology to geography to zoology.  An online catalog is being developed.  The library’s holdings do not circulate but are available, by appointment, to serious researchers.  Phone (202-546-9228) and e-mail (SWGHQ@verizon.net) queries are welcome.

Archives

Periodically, records of former members of the Society are transferred (by agreement) to the Library of Congress, where they are available from the Manuscripts Division.

The archives of the Society’s oral history program [click here] are available at its headquarters for consultation by serious researchers, again, by appointment.

Museum
The gallery at the headquarters maintains exhibits of photography and artifacts of the work of members around the world.
