AUTHOR TALK: "The Polar Adventures of a Rich American Dame: A Life of Louise Arner Boyd," is the first comprehensive biography of the intrepid American socialite who reinvented herself as the leading female polar explorer of the twentieth century, becoming in 1955 the first woman to fly over the North Pole. Dr. Joanna Kafarowski, a Corresponding SWG Member since 2009, is an independent Canadian scholar with a passion for the North. She has a bachelor's degree in English Literature, a master's degree in Geography, and a doctorate in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies. Copies of her book (Dundurn Press 2017) will be available for purchase and signing.
